New priest licensing set for 21 January at 3 p.m. in St Nicholas Church

Canon Jim Rosenthal will be licensed as Parish Priest for St Nicholas at Wade and Chislet in the Wantsum Group on Saturday the 21st. All are welcome. The Bishop in Canterbury, the Rt Revd Trevor Willmott will lead the Celebration of A New Ministy with the Area Dean, Canon Bob Coles, Priest in Charge of the Wantsum Group. The Dean of Canterbury, the Very Revd Robert Willis is expected to attend. A wine and cheese reception will follow the service.
The new priest will celebrate Holy Communion and preach at the 10.15 a.m. Sunday 22 January. The theme of the day is the Marriage at Cana of Galilee. His first Eucharist at St Mary the Virgin Chislet will be Sunday the 29th.
Father Jim served as the Director of Communications for the Anglican Communion for 20 years. He lived in Canterbury for several years as served as Reader at the Cathedral. His last parish work was at St Marylebone Parish Church in London. Previously he served in All Hallows by the Tower, St Matthews Westminster and St Stephen Walbrook. He is the Founder of the St Nicholas Society (www.sintnicolas.weebly.com) and was instrumental in the forming of the now 12th Annual St Nicholas Festival each December in Canterbury, where he stills portrays the great saint. He was born in Chicago (USA) and is honorary canon of three cathedrals and hold a Doctorate in Canon Law HC from a USA Seminary. He serves the Awareness Foundation as Communication Officer (www.awareness-foundation.com)
